WASHINGTON (June 19, 2026) – The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) is pleased to announce the latest project to gain FAST-41 coverage–the Piney Woods Development project in San Augustine County, Texas. Once permitted, the project will play a significant role in providing affordable and reliable natural gas to power American homes and industry.
“I am pleased to welcome the Piney Woods Development project to FAST-41 coverage,” said Emily Domenech, Permitting Council Executive Director. “For far too long, the federal government has made it harder to develop our natural gas resources, stifling the production of energy vital to American economic growth. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, domestic natural gas production has achieved record high levels of output and I look forward to this project contributing to American energy dominance.”
"The Piney Woods Development project represents an important investment in San Augustine County's energy sector and local economy,” said Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX). “The project can move forward efficiently with infrastructure that will support domestic energy production by cutting the red tape through the FAST-41 streamlined permitting process. I am proud to support this initiative that strengthens our nation's energy independence."
Located in the Angelina National Forest in San Augustine County, Texas, the Piney Woods Development project will feature nine well pads, 54 natural gas wells, access roads, electrical lines, and gathering pipelines. The project is sponsored by Adamas Energy LLC.
The United States Forest Service is the lead federal permitting agency for this project. Learn more about the Piney Woods Development project on the Federal Permitting Dashboard.
About the Permitting Council and FAST-41
Established in 2015 by Title 41 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST-41), the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) is a federal agency charged with improving the transparency and predictability of the federal environmental review and authorization process for certain critical infrastructure projects. The Permitting Council is composed of the Permitting Council Executive Director, who serves as the Council Chair; 13 federal agency Council members; and the Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. The Office of the Executive Director coordinates federal environmental reviews and authorizations for projects that seek and qualify for FAST-41 coverage, which are in turn entitled to comprehensive permitting timetables and transparent, collaborative management of those timetables on the Federal Permitting Dashboard.
